On our way to Winchester Point we took a slightly longer route that followed the Umpqua River.
We have been looking for a second home or property to build a second home for quite some time. I wanted Meg to get a good look at the river and the small towns along it. We really like the area and it’s definitely on our list of potential places. However, we do have some requirements that have been tough to fill: 1.) I want a spot on a great salmon river 2.) Meg needs to be within 1 ½ hours to a decent airport 3.) The housing market has been out of hand lately and the prices people have been asking have been outrageously high.
Hopefully, the market will slow with in interest rates, etc. and will help with our search.
After arriving in Winchester Bay, we decided to take a break and relax and enjoy not rushing to the next fishing spot. Neither one of us have had fresh Dungeness Crab for quite some time so we decided to eat out for a change.
As I mentioned before, due to the lack of rain, salmon fishing at this point is basically in the bays with a boat. Since my boat is at home, we’re heading north and renting one.
