Driving Time v. Fishing Time v. Communications/ Information Available: Roseburg, OR, Now Grants Pass, OR

Although the fishing started off great in Colorado, it has been almost nonexistent for the last few days.  I know it’s called ‘fishing’ not ‘catching’.  However, now that I have started putting dates in my Blog, I have come to realize I am doing way more driving than fishing.

I arrived at the Umpqua River near Roseburg, OR from Bend.  By the time I got there the sun was setting and after driving for the better part of the day, all I wanted was to set up camp and relax.  The biggest downside…  No cell coverage, no WiFi.

I know some people want to ‘disconnect’ from everything, but really… everything???  I normally spend my nights planning for the next day or two and without information, I feel like I’m stagnate.  I need to look at routes, river levels and tidal flow near the coast, and potential camp spots.  So basically, I spent half of my morning driving somewhere with coverage to plan the rest of the day.  So, yes, poor planning on my part.  I should have just fished the Umpqua all day, found a new camp spot with coverage and planned that evening.  But I did not…

The best news is there was an In-n-Out Burger in Grants Pass.  I know what some of you are thinking…  ‘it’s not the best burger ever’.  And it’s not: it’s the best fast-food burger ever.   It gets oversold at times.  But it’s as consistent as it comes.  I ordered my standard, Double Single with cheese, no onion add pickles and was not disappointed.
