{"id":1335,"date":"2023-04-21T23:33:00","date_gmt":"2023-04-21T23:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/livingreeltime.com\/?p=1335"},"modified":"2024-02-04T18:51:16","modified_gmt":"2024-02-04T23:51:16","slug":"5-rivers-5-days-day-4-curse-of-the-white-death-fly-part-2-rocky-river","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/livingreeltime.com\/?p=1335","title":{"rendered":"5 Rivers\/ 5 Days: Day 4: \u201cCurse of the \u2018White Death Fly\u201d Part 2: Rocky River"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-post-date\"><time datetime=\"2023-04-21T23:33:00-04:00\">April 21, 2023<\/time><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although I didn\u2019t have the exact fly, it was close.\u00a0 Sometimes close counts as in horseshoes and hand grenades.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I arrived at first light at the same exact pool and waded to the exact same spot as the day before.&nbsp; It wasn\u2019t long before I was hooked up on a Steelhead mimicking the pattern I had learned from the previous day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I always wish other fishermen the best of luck: verbally and mentally.&nbsp; If I didn\u2019t, I feel it would negatively impact my fishing Karma.&nbsp; However, while watching him hook and lose six fish in such a short amount of time the day before, there was a part of me that couldn\u2019t help but wonder\u2026 is he just that bad of a fisherman?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On that note\u2026 back to my Karma\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fish 1: 6:15am<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Status: Fish Lost<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rocky River 1st Fish Lost\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kL4L48XI4ug?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fish 2: 6:20am<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Status: Fish Lost<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rocky River 2nd Fish Lost\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jetvYBS_pNo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now I have witnessed and participated in 8 fish hooked and 8 fish lost.&nbsp; Curse, Karma, call it what you will, it wasn\u2019t headed in the right direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although two Steelhead struck within the matter of minutes, for whatever reason, the bite turned off.&nbsp; Regardless, as I had done the day before, I stuck to my same tactic. The only difference being what I was presenting to the fish. &nbsp;And, just like that, the fish were done with the pattern for the day; yet I persisted.&nbsp; After hours of trying, I had no choice but to change tactics once again.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I only had so many available tackle options at the time, and mentally, I was committed to the White Death Fly pattern or a knock-off.&nbsp; With that said, I went back to the setup that failed me yesterday but worked the two days prior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fish 3: 2:00pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Status: Fish Caught<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rocky River Last Fish Caught\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8h565I7hQSc?feature=oembed\"
