{"id":1282,"date":"2023-04-19T23:31:35","date_gmt":"2023-04-19T23:31:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/livingreeltime.com\/?p=1282"},"modified":"2024-02-04T18:53:03","modified_gmt":"2024-02-04T23:53:03","slug":"5-rivers-5-days-steelhead-alley-rocky-river-day-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/livingreeltime.com\/?p=1282","title":{"rendered":"5 Rivers\/ 5 Days: Steelhead Alley: Rocky River: Day 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-post-date\"><time datetime=\"2023-04-19T23:31:35-04:00\">April 19, 2023<\/time><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My favorite fishing sections on rivers are the ones you either need to hike into or use a drift boat to access the most productive waters.\u00a0 I\u2019ll add the Rocky River on the Westside of Cleveland to the list as a rare exception in a city environment.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The entire Rocky River is in a park setting.&nbsp; I would estimate there are almost 17 miles of river, adjusting for the numerous sweeping bends on the 11-mile drive by road.&nbsp; There are easily accessible parking spots right next to prime Steelhead holes where the fish stack up awaiting their turn to traverse the modest weirs on their way upstream.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"658\" height=\"493\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/livingreeltime.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-18.png?resize=658%2C493&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/livingreeltime.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-18.png?w=658&amp;ssl=1 658w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/livingreeltime.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-18.png?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 658px) 100vw, 658px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t get me wrong, I\u2019ll take the easy access at the crack of dawn when these productive staging areas are virtually free of fishermen. &nbsp;I will 100% take a shot of landing a fish before the crowds arrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Rocky River is extremely well maintained and provides paved paths as well as hiking trails through the majority of the park.&nbsp; Literally, one can walk the entire river without peril.&nbsp; So, there\u2019s no blaming the weekend crowds,  just keep exploring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"685\" height=\"901\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/livingreeltime.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-19.png?resize=685%2C901&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1284\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/livingreeltime.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-19.png?w=685&amp;ssl=1 685w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/livingreeltime.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-19.png?resize=228%2C300&amp;ssl=1 228w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 685px) 100vw, 685px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Rocky is amazing and is the only totally accessible river in the Cleveland area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I can only hope someday I meet somebody in Cleveland with a friend, who knows someone with a friend, who owns a beautiful stretch of property of the Chagrin or Grand rivers to provide more access options on the Eastside. I guess that\u2019s where the drift boat would come in handy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The other rivers in Steelhead Alley contain miles of productive river sections inaccessible to the general public in contrast to the Rocky. In a way, that\u2019s good as it provides a safe haven for fish to spawn without the daily angling pressure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since I rambled extensively on day one in my first post\u2026&nbsp; I\u2019ll get to the point\u2026&nbsp; Two days, two Steelhead.&nbsp; So, in baseball terms, I\u2019m batting a thousand.&nbsp; Wait\u2026&nbsp; Does 99% caught count?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Steelhead: Rocky River.
