{"id":1215,"date":"2023-02-12T12:25:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-12T12:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/livingreeltime.com\/?p=1215"},"modified":"2024-02-04T18:55:13","modified_gmt":"2024-02-04T23:55:13","slug":"back-in-the-keys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/livingreeltime.com\/?p=1215","title":{"rendered":"Back in the Keys"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-post-date\"><time datetime=\"2023-02-12T12:25:00-05:00\">February 12, 2023<\/time><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First post in 2023!\u00a0 I know, I know\u2026.\u00a0 what the heck happened to January?\u00a0 I\u2019m not 100% sure but the weather definitely had something to do with it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where we live in the Florida Keys, we are close to a natural cut between the Atlantic Ocean and the bayside. So, potentially a lot of fishing options. Ideally, we would go to the reef for snapper or if the gulfstream is in close enough, head out for tuna or wahoo this time of year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to the wind and rough weather on the Atlantic, we opted to stock up on some lobster on the bay side before the season closes at the end of March.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One important thing to know is when the water is warm, Meg is a very capable lobster catcher.&nbsp; When the water becomes cold, she is confident where the lobsters are, but insists that she stay on the boat to watch the dog for \u2018safety\u2019 while I retrieve the lobster in the cold rough water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s a good example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Winter Lobstering 2023 in the Florida Keys\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yWihqwP-fx4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even with the weather causing the slow fishing so far, the Keys are still an incredible place. I&#8217;m extremely excited about our upcoming adventures in 2023.
